We never forget that compassion is the MOST important tool in caring for a yet, yet the broad use of technology in our office plays a important roll in our patient's care.
After simply walking thru our door the use of technology is obvious throughout our office. Large HD displays in the waiting area both entertain and share important messages about the practice and your child's care. We are a "paperless" office. Meaning that all patient documents are stored on the computer. Once new patient paperwork is reviewed by our staff and doctors, it is scanned and shred on HIPPA compliant shredders.
Our network of over 20 computers is secured by multiple passwords. Our Doctor portable tablets require fingerprint authorization. When an after hour emergency arises, all three Doctors have the ability to access ALL patient charts, including all x-rays taken in the last three years. Emergency care is facilitated when parents are able to email a photo of their child so the Doctor can immediately triage care.
Some examples of the use of technology in our office includes:
- Digital x-rays not only provide an instantaneous image, but allows the use of up to 85% LESS RADIATION than the traditional dental x-rays.
- Laser fluorescence detection of cavities in the pits and fissures of baby and permanent teeth (allowing conservative and accurate detection of cavities)
- Hi resolution intra and extra photography allows up to better communicate with parents and patients - Computer based charts that allow our Doctors to throughly document our findings at each visit.
The computerized images also allow us to not use chemicals to develop the film, decreasing our impact on the environment. Not only are they friendly to the environment, they are much safer than traditional X-rays.
